Associated Press 5:44 p.m. EDT, July 25, 2011
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. —— The New York Giants will open training camp on Friday at their team headquarters near New Meadowlands Stadium. The Giants made the announcement late Monday afternoon, hours after the NFLPA executive committee and the 32 player representatives from the league’s teams recommended to players that they vote for the 10-year deal which will end the 4 1 / 2-month lockout. Earlier in the day, workers began removing roughly 6-foot long blue slants from around the practice fields at the Giants’ facility, so fans will be able to see the fields and watch practices. The team plans to erect stands outside the fences of the practice fields for seating. The Giants have held camp at the University at Albany since 1996. But they opted to train at home this year because of the uncertainty surrounding the labor dispute. What do you guys think about this. Posted in giants-news | Comments Off

| New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning thinks rookies have suffered from NFL lockout | |
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning expressed concern Friday at the Manning Passing Academy that the NFL lockout may hinder the development of rookies. M anning said young players may face a difficult adjustment period due to the lack of official practices. “I think that’s going to be the case,” Manning said. “We’re trying to get with some of them and get them caught up a little on the offense and some of the basic routes and basic terminology. But hopefully we’ll get into training camp in time where they’ll at least have a full training camp to learn the system.” Manning has organized some workouts and walkthroughs with his New York teammates but described those as “decent” and far from the quality reps they would receive in mini-camps and organized team activities. | Giants flying under radar | |
The talk, at least among media members Thursday at New York Giants training camp, was the initial episode of “Hard Knocks,” the HBO series that this year features a behind-the-scenes look at New York Jets training camp. Don’t expect the HBO crew to be at the University at Albany, or wherever the Giants hold future camps, any time soon. Reese seems to savor the calm surrounding this camp … Thanks for reading! . |
