So hopeful is the city that its hometown football teams will win the bid to host the Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014 that Mayor Bloomberg is scheduled to speak in Times Square today at 4:45 alongside executives of the New York Jets and Giants. The teams encouraged their fans to gather in Duffy Square today around 3:00 p.m. to wait for the announcement from the National Football League.
